Retro Nexus rotates between multiple game genres. Each has its own style, mechanics, and fun.
⚔️ Medieval RPG
The primary genre and the heart of Retro Nexus. A full-featured RPG with persistent character progression, class systems, skill trees, crafting, merchants, quests, boss battles, weather effects, and ambient events.
Your character persists between sessions — level up, join a guild, find rare equipment, and become a legend.

👊 Beat-Em-Up
A side-scrolling brawler inspired by classics like Streets of Rage. Players fight through waves of enemies across detailed parallax city environments, facing off against bosses at the end of each level.
Choose from multiple character types — melee brawlers and ranged fighters — each with their own attack animations and movement styles. Characters can be ground-based or airborne.
Type !play to join the fight when this genre is active.
🏟️ Arena
Fantasy tournament-style combat. Players are paired in brackets and fight through rounds — first against AI-controlled enemies (PvE), then against each other (PvP) in elimination rounds.
Choose from assassins, knights, mages, and other fantasy warrior types. Each character has unique attack animations, damage values, and combat styles. Fights take place in varied arenas — castles, forests, dungeons, battlegrounds, and more.
🐻 Toon Arena
Same bracket tournament format as the Arena, but with a cartoon art style. Fight as bears, cats, dragons, and other whimsical animal characters in colorful arenas.
Characters include both melee fighters and those with unique movement styles like flying. A lighter take on the arena combat formula.
🚀 Space Blaster
A co-op vertical space shooter. All active players pilot ships together, fighting waves of alien enemies. The weapon system progresses as the team collects power-ups:
Ships start with basic fire shots and lasers, cycling 4:1 (4 fire shots per laser). Power-ups upgrade all active players simultaneously — odd upgrades improve fire shots, even upgrades also bump the laser level. Each player also gets 3 missiles that can be fired with !missile.
Choose from multiple ship designs with different visual styles.
🏎️ Race Battle
Racing combat where players choose from bikes, cars, and trucks, each with their own handling characteristics. Speed through tracks while battling other racers for the top position.
Multiple vehicle designs available per type. Link your account to save your preferred vehicle.
